The following rules apply when changing an Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production product's status:
Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Active, Not Available, or Out of Production
Unless the product is a kit, no restrictions exist for changing a product's status from Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production to Active, Not Available, or Out of Production.
Not Available or Out of Production >> Inactive
Once you change a product's status from Not Available or Out of Production to Inactive, the product is no longer available for sale to customers, and iMIS does not return the product from searches during order entry.
Additional restrictions apply if the product also is a kit.
Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Mark for Deletion
Once you change a product's status from Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Mark for Deletion, the product is no longer available for sale to customers, and iMIS does not return the product from searches during order entry.
If any of the following conditions are true when changing a product's status from Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Mark for Deletion, an error will display, the status change will fail, and iMIS will reset the product to its original status:
■ The product has pending inventory transactions.
■ The product has inventory in stock.
■ The product has entries in the Product_Price table.
Additional restrictions apply if the product also is a kit or Replacement item.
Additional restrictions
Additional restrictions apply when changing an Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production product's status if the product also is one of the following:
Kit (Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Active) - If a product with an Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production status is a kit, iMIS prompts you to select either Yes or No to change the status of all kit components:
■ Yes - The status of the kit and all kit components changes.
■ No - The status change fails; all kit components must have an Active status.
Kit (Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Inactive, Mark for Deletion, Not Available, or Out of Production) - If a product with an Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production status is a kit, iMIS prompts you to select either Yes or No to change the status of all kit components:
■ Yes - iMIS verifies whether each component's status equals the original, unchanged status of the parent kit:
■ True - iMIS then verifies whether the component also is a component of another kit:
□ True - iMIS does not change the component's status.
False - iMIS changes the component's status to equal the status of the parent kit.
□ False - iMIS does not change the component's status.
■ No - iMIS changes only the product kit's status and does not change the status of the kit components.
Replacement Item (Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production >> Mark for Deletion) - If a product with an Inactive, Not Available, or Out of Production status has a Replacement item designated for it, iMIS deletes the relationship from the appropriate table when you change the product's status to Mark for Deletion.
